Hollywood Holt in Denver 4/21
Picture a wild Chicago house party; the floor’s about to buckle, everyone’s dripping sweat as the bass works it’s way through the crowd of punks, hip hop kids and hipsters. Enter Hollywood Holt, “My thing is – I’m very, very, big into punk rock, so when I perform, it’s like a punk-rock show, but it’s hip-hop music.” A triple threat rapper, DJ and break dancer, Holt is a true performer. He captivates his audience with rhymes about juking, peach lambic, and mopeds and will dj anything to keep the dance floor moving.
Hollywood Holt will be coming to Denver to DJ at Cervantes’ Other Side (formerly Quixote's) at 2637 Welton on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. DJs Ginger Perry and Deftron will be getting the party started around 9pm. With visual explorations from Robert Fraser. Five at the door.

hey denver, you should really get to know anchor bags. the following is an interview with founder/designer/maker Jordan Ourada.
ld: how did anchor get started ? ab: Anchor bags started back in 2007 when I was working as a courier here in town and was tired of having a sore back from messenger bags. I looked at my options for backpacks but just couldn't quite find what I wanted, so I started doing some measurements and sketches. I remembered how to sew from 7th grade home-ec class and figured I could probably make it happen. I found a beautiful old Singer machine on Craigslist and got a batch of scrap fabric and set to work. I was half expecting to fail and have to buy a bag after all, but to my surprise it turned out pretty good and had the comfort I wanted. I never planned to have a business out of it, but I got huge support from the great cycling community here in Denver after a half dozen requests for bags like mine, I decided, why not?
ld: how many people work at anchor?
ld: what can we expect to see coming from anchor in the future?
ab: I dont really know what the future holds for Anchor Bags, but I am constantly working on fresh stuff, from a new laptop sleeve, to a standardized 'blackout' line of prefabbed all black backpacks, its hard to say what ends up making it out to the people, and because I do so much truly custom work, there is always something new and different coming out of Anchor.ld: what is the best part of your job?
ab: The best part of running Anchor bags is the absolute control and being able to sit down with someone's drawing and in a couple days deliver a tangible, functional, version of their idea that they can use everyday... It's really satisfying seeing how excited people are about their new bag, that they helped design.ld: the worst?ab: The toughest part of running Anchor Bags it that its just a side gig that I work hard to make time for between a full time job, a wife and two year old son, going to school, and trying to get out and ride my bike.ld: when not designing/sewing/making what do you like to do w/ your freetime?ab: Free time isn't really a term I am familiar with anymore, but I do spend a lot of time playing with my son, Maxwell, and trying to get out and ride with friends.anything else you would like to share with our readers?ab: If I could share anything else with readers, it would be to keep supporting local business, and thanks to all the great people of Denver for giving me the opportunity to make some cool stuff and send out in the world.
